Weaving dark melancholic textures, haunting vocals with progressive undertones hAND are a band
that "pushes at genre boundaries with real verve" - God Is In The TV Zine.
Now a three-piece gothic, progressive metal band from the south of the UK, hAND’s first venture
included synths and drum machines until Cris Nelson joined the existing members Kat Ward (vocals,
bass, piano) and Kieren Johnstone (guitar) as full time drummer in early 2006.
In June of that year they recorded their second E.P "Shadow: Word Pain" at Peak recording
studios with producer Chris Hamilton (formerly guitarist for Fony) and received resounding press
support as well as sponsorship from Mapex Drums and Paiste Cymbals.
In 2007 the band took part in the AKG Unsigned Heroes competition and made it through to the
last 20 acts beating over 800 bands to get there. The year was rounded off with them supporting
Norwegian Goth band Octavia Sperati at The Pressure Point in Brighton.
The band signed to the Casket Music label at the start of 2008. In May they recorded their
debut album "Deadroom Journal" at Philia Studios with producer Nick Hemingway (Cancer, Isor,
Desecration), this earned them a full endorsement by FVF drums. The album is scheduled for
worldwide release on September 22nd.
